Outside of Aiken Speakeasy & Eats

Tromping around Aiken and enjoying the beautiful Saturday weather, my parents and I stopped to get a bite for lunch. We stopped at a prohibition-themed bar/restaurant called the Aiken Speakeasy and Eats. Wanting something lite, I ordered the spinach salad with sliced strawberries, walnuts and goat cheese. Dressing came on the side, but was not needed. This salad made me appreciate the simplicity of flavor that goat cheese contributes. No salad dressing was used because the plain, yes plain, goat cheese contributed more than enough savory taste to the dish. This made me further appreciate the simplicity of a commonplace goat cheese- no Italian herbs etc. necessary. Behold the power of simple ingredients and great company. Next time you are in Aiken, give this place a try. Next time you go to the grocery, pick up some goat cheese. Cheers!
